Terms of Use

These are the rules for using Splayex. Making an account means agreeing to them. They are written to be read, not to be skipped.

1. Who can be here

You must be at least 13 years old, or older if the country you live in sets a higher age for using a service like this one.

One person, one account. If we have removed your account for breaking these rules, do not make another one.

2. Your account

Keep your password to yourself. Anything done from your account is treated as done by you.
Give a real email address. It is the only way to get back in if you are locked out.
Do not pretend to be someone else, and do not take a username in order to pass yourself off as a person or a business you are not.

3. What you post

What you post stays yours. You are not giving it away by putting it here.

You do give Splayex permission to store it and to show it to the people you chose to show it to — which is simply what it means to post something on an app. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account.

Post only what is yours to post. If you did not make it and have no right to share it, do not.

4. What is not allowed

These are not small print. An account doing any of this is removed, and the worst of it is reported to the authorities.

Anything sexual involving a child. There is no argument, no context and no second chance here.
Threatening, bullying or harassing anybody, or encouraging other people to.
Hate aimed at people for their religion, race, where they come from, their gender, who they are attracted to, or a disability.
Violent or graphic material posted to shock or to glorify what is in it.
Encouraging self-harm or suicide.
Scams — fake hire offers, advance-fee tricks, fake giveaways, anything built to take money from someone.
Selling what cannot be sold — drugs, weapons, stolen goods, stolen accounts or stolen data.
Spam — mass unwanted messages, bought followers, bots.
Somebody else's private information — their address, their documents, their photos — without them agreeing.
Other people's work passed off as your own.
Attacking the app itself — breaking in, overloading it, pulling data out of it in bulk, or getting round its limits.

5. Hiring and being hired

Splayex helps two people find each other and talk. That is all it does.

You must be 18 or over to offer paid work. Anyone younger can use the rest of Splayex, but not this part of it.
The agreement is between you two. Splayex is not a party to it, does not employ either of you, and does not guarantee that work gets done or that anybody gets paid.
Splayex does not handle money. No payment goes through this app. How you pay and when is yours to agree between yourselves.
Check who you are dealing with. A profile is what somebody wrote about themselves, not something we have verified.
Say honestly what you can do and what you will charge. Do not take work you cannot do.

Be careful with money. Most trouble in a place like this comes from paying in full before anything has been delivered. Splayex cannot get your money back, because it never had it.

6. Reporting

Every post, comment, reel and account can be reported from inside the app. Reports are read by a person.

Depending on what is found, we may remove the content, warn the account, suspend it, or remove it entirely. Something serious enough goes to the authorities, whether or not anyone has reported it.

7. Ending it

You can leave at any time: Settings → Account Information → Delete my account. How that works, and the 15 days, are described in the Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or remove an account that breaks these rules. Where it is sensible to warn first, we warn first. Where someone is being harmed, we do not wait.

8. What we promise, and what we do not

Splayex is offered as it is. We work to keep it running and to fix what breaks, but we cannot promise it will never be down, never lose anything, or never show you something you did not want to see.

Keep your own copy of anything you would be upset to lose.

To the extent the law allows, Splayex is not liable for what other people do here, for an agreement between two people that goes wrong, or for money lost in a deal the app merely helped arrange.

Nothing here takes away a right your own country's law gives you and does not let you sign away.

9. Changes

These terms will change as the app grows. The date at the top says when they last did. If a change really matters, the app will tell you. Carrying on using Splayex after a change means accepting it; if you would rather not, you can delete your account.
